Bold, minimal, simple, elegant, with personality, Bruco is a chair made out of recycled Meranti timber and brass rods. Handmade with love.
The Whole Story
Bruco is simultaneously a chair of the past and the future. Inspired by the organic forms found in nature, it’s minimalist with its simplicity, but bold and flamboyant with its curves and details. It’s entirely made out of recycled Meranti timber, and brass rods. The backrest and armrests are one 2.4 metre piece – consisted of laminated strips- bent all the way around a mould made with the aid of CNC machine; the legs have been turned on a lathe and the seat has been scooped and shaved by hand. Bruco is a chair that is suitable for any space, mainly the living room and the bedroom. It’s a stand alone chair, not meant as a dining chair or as part of a set. It enhances the space it is in without spoiling it. Ergonomics and anthropometrics have been taken into account when designing it, adjusting its height to a standard table's height. The seat and the back/armrest section have been deliberately made bigger to accommodate a sense of comfort and freedom when sitting down, without feeling confined into a space. Bruco is perfect as a reading and/or drinking chair, to relax in the elegance of its forms, allowing for a full-on sensorial experience; the design is indeed made to be tactile, with its twisting armrests at elbow height, hiding under the seat, which is itself very sensory.
